Thursday October 13

Today was an apple-tastic day! We read a story about apples and then looked closely at the apples we were going to be tasting. We talked about similarities and differences between the apples. We then tasted Red Delicious, Ambrosia and Granny Smith apples. We talked about how they smelled, tasted and if they were crunchy or soft. Our learners then chose their favourite apple and coloured an apple and added it to our apple graph. We talked about the apple graph and which had the least and the most. Ask your child about their favourite apple and to describe what is tasted like.

We did apple patterns and practiced labelling our patterns. 

AM Kindergarten went to gym with Mr. W who was in for Mrs. Conley. PM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson.

Friday is AM Kindergarten. We will be going on a community walk so please dress for the weather. If you are able to volunteer and have your clearance, we would love to have you join us. Thank you :)

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
