Thursday November 3

Today was a great day at school!  We read the story "Marvellous Me!" and talked about all the ways we are unique.  We looked at our hair color, eye color, whether we wear glasses or not, straight hair, curly hair.

We played a new math game today called "Squish".  In this game we rolled playdoh balls.  Next we rolled a dice and squished that number of playdoh balls.  This was great number practice as well as fine motor strengthening.

We did a number talk. We had pictures on the board and the children had to figure out what they all had in common. They discovered they had the number 2 in common. We talked about a pair of items, tally marks, ten frames, dice, number lines and the quantity of 2.

We played a counting bear game where we had to listen to the sound and count the number of bears.

We introduced syllables and talked about how syllables are like a beat in words. We practiced clapping out syllables in our own names and other words. Practice clapping out syllables at home.

The red group went to the gym today and PM kindergarten had music.

Tomorrow is AM Kindergarten.  We are planning to be outside.  We have cancelled our community walk but will be going outside in the field. Please make sure your child has snow pants, boots, hat and waterproof mitts/gloves.

Volunteers Needed!

Kindergarten will be going on our first field trip of the school year.  We will be walking to the Tuscany Fire Station and having a tour.  For each visit we will need 4 volunteers to join us.  All volunteers must have a valid police clearance on file at the school in order to be able to volunteer with us.  Please email your child's teacher if you are available and interesting in volunteering.
