Happy Valentine's Day to all our families. The children came to school very excited to see their friends today. We spent the first part of our day playing and passing out Valentine's Day cards. 

We read, " In My Heart" and talked about what makes our heart happy (and feel loved). We looked at the map book which included a page all about a map to my heart. The children drew pictures of their own heart map which we will paint with watercolours tomorrow. They used sharpie to fill their heart with all the things that they love. 

AM kindergarten did their writing journals and wrote "I love___" and drew a picture and wrote about something they love. 

We played bump, were we have to add up the sum of 2 dice and place a counter on the number board. If your partner gets the same number as you then you can "bump" their counter off the board. 

PM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. 

Swim forms went home yesterday. Please check your child's backpack and fill out the forms and return by Tuesday February 21. The pool requires forms two weeks in advance so we appreciate you sending the forms back in a timely manner. Thank you.

If you would like to volunteer and have a valid police clearance, please sign up using the following link Volunteer Sign Up as we need parents to join us to supervise on the bus and in the change rooms. Thank you!

Also if your child has never been to a pool to swim before, it would be a good opportunity to take your child prior to going as a class. They can get used to what the pool area looks like, how the water feels, how we get dressed and undressed after swimming, etc.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
