Wednesday March 15

Today was Writing Wednesday and we worked in our journals. As writers, we are working on using sentence starters such as I like, I can, I see, etc. We have been practicing stretching out words and writing down the sounds we hear. We continue to label our drawings with beginning sounds and familiar words.

We continued to focus on the 5 Senses. Today we learned about the sense of hearing and did a hearing game. We listened to sounds and had to draw what we thought the sound was.

We read, "The Perfect Fit" a book about shapes and continued to look at 2D shapes. We  used pattern blocks and geoboards to create shape pictures. We then had to count up the number of shapes we used in our pictures. 

AM Kindergarten had music and PM Kindergarten had gym. 

Friday is PM Kindergarten.  We will be going outside. Please dress your child for the weather.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
