Friday April 21

Today we started our day with cooperative games. We played different board games that reinforce taking turns and and working together. 

We read, "From the Egg to a Chick" and then candelled the eggs. Ask your child what they noticed in the eggs.

We went to the Grade 3/4 Brox/Turner assembly about Earth Day.

We read, "I am Earth" and "The Earth Book" and we did a guided drawing of the earth and coloured it in with oil pastel. We wrote "I can help the Earth by" and then wrote 3 ways we were going to help the earth on cut out hearts.

AM Kindergarten, parents are invited to join us in the hub from 10:15am to 11:15am

PM Kindergarten, parents are invited to join us in the hub from 2:10pm-3:10pm

Both AM and PM Kindergarten will be going on a field trip to Butterfield Acres  Friday June 16. We have slightly changed the schedule to accommodate both AM and PM groups ( to cut on costs we will have both groups go together so we can use 1 bus) That means both groups will have the field trip on Friday June 16th and there will be NO kindergarten on Friday June 23. 

We will require 7 volunteers per class. If you have a valid police clearance and can drive to the site please use the following link to sign up. (If you need to carpool, please email us )We will not have enough space on the bus for all our volunteers, we are asking that you drive yourself and meet us at the farm.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles. We had centers and snack today.
