Wednesday May 10

Today was a busy day in Kindergarten. We were getting everything ready for our celebration of learning tomorrow.

We had the chicks out on a mat today and we watched them all run around. Our learners loved watching and petting the chicks. Each chick definitely has its own personality. We completed our final page in our chick booklets which we will share with you tomorrow. If you are unable to attend the celebration of learning, your child will be bringing work home to share with you.

AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson and PM Kindergarten played games in the gym. 

We had Writing Wednesday and had free choice writing. Many of our learners wrote about the chicks. We are getting lots of practice with our writing and our learners have shown a lot of progress over this past year. We are proud of them. 

Tomorrow, if you are planning on attending the celebration of learning, please enter through the main doors at the front. We will be in the hub to greet you. We will be starting with a few songs and then your child will share their work and learning with you. We will start at 10:15am for the AM Kindergarten and at 2:10 pm for PM Kindergarten. Looking forward to seeing our families and sharing all of our work with you. 

 Lion King Costuming Reminder  all Kindergarten children are asked to wear all black clothes (pants and shirt) for both shows.  If need be, clothing can be turned inside out so that it is solid black.  Thank you so much for your help!

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
