Wednesday September 14
Today is Writing Wednesday in Kindergarten. Today we learned about "swirly printing" as a way to tell our stories. Children are encouraged to add swirls to their pictures as they tell their story. Learners are also encouraged to add familiar words to their writing such as their name, mom or dad. Please see the poster below to refer to the type of writing we will be doing in Kindergarten as the year progresses.
We continue to work on holding our pencil correctly when we are drawing or writing. We use the alligator grip where the pencil is resting between our thumb, index finger and middle finger. This makes it look like the alligator is chomping the pencil!
The AM children had music with Mrs. Coulson, please ask your child what they did in the music room.
PM children visited the gym. We played a variety of movement activities and went over our expectations and safety rules while in the gym.
It was library book exchange today. If your child returned their book they were able to sign out a new book. You child will not be able to sign out a book if their book has not been returned. If your child forgot to return their book today, please return it next Wednesday. We will have regular book exchange on Wednesdays.
Tomorrow is International Dot Day! International Dot Day on September 15th gets your creative juices flowing. Established to celebrate creativity, courage, and collaboration, the celebration is easily one of the most fun days of the year! International Dot Day is named for the classic Peter H. Reynolds storybook The Dot.
If your child has anything with dots on, please consider wearing it to school tomorrow as we celebrate Dot Day at school!
