Wednesday September 21

Today was International Peace Day. We talked about how we can build peaceful communities in our class. We read, "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr and talked about what peace means to us. We created a peace quilt for our classroom and each child drew what peace means to them in sharpie markers. You will be able to see our work tomorrow at our welcome to EHS evening. 

We had writing Wednesday and we read the story, "My Heart Fills With Happiness" and drew what makes our heart happy in our writing journals. We drew pictures and used our "swirly" printing to share our ideas about happiness.

AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym and library exchange.

AM Kindergarten will exchange library books tomorrow.

We had big centers and shared some more of our All About Me bags.

Please accept my apologies that the MyCBE Conference booking system has not been functioning properly the past few days. We are moving to an alternate plan to help you plan for the evening. We are very excited for you to come and we want to keep this simple:

  • Please bring your child along so they can show you their classroom, Teacher, and school!
  • The sessions will begin in the gym with a brief presentation about full school information (approximately 10 minutes)
  • Following this presentation, parents and students are invited to visit your child’s classroom

This event will be focused on you having a chance to learn about the school, Teacher and classroom.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
