Wednesday October 12

Today was writing Wednesday. We read, "Ten Apples Up On Top" by Dr. Seuss and then drew a picture of ourselves with the number of apples to match our names. We then wrote, "I have __ apples." 

AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. Ask your child what they did in music or gym. 

Both groups had library exchange. 

We continue to practice making patterns. We worked on figuring out the missing part of a pattern.  We looked at different patterns and acted our and drew the missing part to a pattern. 

Picture orders came home today. Please check your child's backpack for their folder and pictures. Please return the coloured folders tomorrow. 

We will be doing an apple taste test tomorrow, if for some reason you do not want your child to participate please let your child's teacher know. Thank you!

Friday is AM Kindergarten. We are looking to go on a community walk and we currently only have 2 volunteers, we need 4 more to join us. If you have a valid police clearance and are able to join us, please email your child's teacher and let them know. We will be looking to go from 9:15am to 11:00am. Thank you.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
