Happy snowy Monday!  Today was a great day at school!  This week we are learning about the letter A.  Please have your child look for items around the house that start with A.  Letter A Song

Green Fools residency is at EHS for the next 2 weeks.  Kindergarten had their first chance to explore and discover with the Green Fools experts. They balanced a feather on different body parts and explore throwing and catching scarves. 

AM Kindergarten had music. PM kindergarten played race to 10. We used number lines, dice and teddy bears to race to 10.

We continue to work "All About Me".  Today we drew our self portraits to add to our special all about me boxes.


Volunteers Needed for Mrs. Conley's Field Trip to the Fire Station

Kindergarten will be going on our first field trip of the school year.  We will be walking to the Tuscany Fire Station and having a tour.  For each visit we will need 4 volunteers to join us.  All volunteers must have a valid police clearance on file at the school in order to be able to volunteer with us.  Please email Mrs. Conley if you are available and interesting in volunteering.

Kindergarten is STILL looking for empty Kleenex boxes.  Each child needs an empty box for an upcoming project in November.  If you are able to send more than one box, we would greatly appreciate it.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
