We read, "What Makes Us Happy" and shared about what makes us happy. We noticed how the story was construction paper illustrations and we made our own construction illustrations to share about what makes us happy.

We played math games. We practiced power of ten and race to 10. 

We continued to work on our colour monsters.  We used oil pastels to colour the monsters based on how we are feeling. We talked about how colors can sometimes represent different feelings and emotions. 

PM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. 

There was a fire drill practice for PM Kindergarten. They did a wonderful job at being safe, serious and silent during the drill. 

LAST CALL for Family Photos - thank you to those families who have sent us your family photos!  We appreciate it!

We have been talking about our families at school.  If you are able to send us a family photo of your family that we can hang on a bulletin board at school we would appreciate it.  We will hang up any family photos we get at school in our display and return the photos to you in early December.  Many thanks for considering our request. We will continue to explore how families come in many different shapes and sizes.  


Thank you to all the parents who have signed up for conferences. We look forward to meeting with you over Thursday and Friday. As a reminder, Thursday is regular school hours for Kindergarten. If you have booked a conference with Mrs. Mask during Thursday afternoon, please come through the office. I will be set up in a conference room there. If you would like your child to join the conference and they are in the afternoon class, I will have them come and join us. Please let me know ahead of time.

As for the remainder of the conferences, please arrive on time as we are booked back to back and there is no additional time if you are late to your conference. The Friday conferences have the option of meeting online. If you would like to meet virtually, then please email your child's teacher. Otherwise we will see you in the classroom at your scheduled time.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
