Tuesday November 8

We read, "Love Makes A Family" and talked about our own families. We talked about the people in our family and how many people are in our family. We drew our families for a special project.

We continue to talk about Remembrance Day and learned " Little Poppy" poem. 

We had centers and snack.

We played our "Race to 10 " math game.

We looked at the letter "A". We practiced the letter A on whiteboards and then used our printing books and practiced printing the letter A and drew out 3 things that begin with the letter A. 

Please remember to label ALL your child's winter gear.  We have many children all wearing black snowpants that look very similar.  Labelled items makes it so much easier to match items to their owner.  Thank you!

Kindergarten is STILL looking for empty Kleenex boxes.  Each child needs an empty box for an upcoming project in November.  If you are able to send more than one box, we would greatly appreciate it. We are looking for 19 more.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
