Wednesday November 23

Today we read, "Not A Box" and used our imagination as to what a box could be. We shared with a partner and then drew about it in our journals for Writing Wednesday. Ask your child what they drew about. We are practicing copying print from the board and sounding out beginning letter sounds in words.

We did a dot art to represent our age. We practiced printing "I am ___" and did dot art with paint to share our age. This is part of our all about me box we are creating. 

AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten went to the gym.

We played a math game. We had to roll 3 dice and place them in order from lowest to highest. We played with a partner and had to see who could do it the quickest. We challenged ourselves by using up to 6 dice at the same time.

We had centers. 

Thank you to all the parents who have signed up for conferences. We look forward to meeting with you over Thursday and Friday. As a reminder, Thursday is regular school hours for Kindergarten. If you have booked a conference with Mrs. Mask during Thursday afternoon, please come through the office. I will be set up in a conference room there. If you would like your child to join the conference and they are in the afternoon class, I will have them come and join us. Please let me know ahead of time.

As for the remainder of the conferences, please arrive on time as we are booked back to back and there is no additional time if you are late to your conference. The Friday conferences have the option of meeting online. If you would like to meet virtually, then please email your child's teacher. Otherwise we will see you in the classroom at your scheduled time.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles.
