Monday December 5

We started our day with new arrival activities.

We read, "Trudy's Rock Story" and the story talked about when we are feeling big emotions we can find a rock and tell that rock how we are feeling. When we are feeling better, we put the rock back in nature where we found it. We then practiced and found a rock that spoke to us in class and told the rock how we were feeling today. 

We filled in the last section on our medicine wheel and talked about feelings. The children chose how they are feeling and drew a picture.

AM kindergarten had music and gym. PM Kindergarten had gym.

PM Kindergarten played  math battle. To play the game you play with a partner. Each partner takes 1 or 2 dice and 5 counters each. Both partners roll at the same time and have to state their number (to make it more difficult some students chose 2 dice to add together) Whoever has the biggest number gets to take a counter from their partner. Whoever gets all 10 counters wins the game.

We are looking for volunteers to come help us make crafts!  Please email your child's teacher if you are interested in helping out.  Please remember all volunteers must have a valid police screening to volunteer in the school.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles. We had centers and snack today.
