Friday February 10

Today we read, "How Full Is Your Bucket?" and talked about how each of us have an invisible bucket. We talked about ways we can fill each others buckets. We drew in our visual journals what fills our own buckets.

We played math games with a partner. We had 10 two sided counters in a cup and had to toss them on the floor and then count the colours up to make ten.

We did STEM centers where each center had a challenge. The centers included:

1-blocks and cards- build the tallest tower

2-marbles and playdough- create a marble maze on a baking sheet

3-lego and blocks- build a bridge to get over the river

4-straws and connectors-build a structure you can sit in

5-explore and play in sand

Swimming is coming up in Kindergarten from March 6-9 for both AM and PM classes.  If you are interested in volunteering for swimming you MUST have a valid police clearance.  It can take 3-4 weeks (or more) to get your clearance from the police.  If you have not started this process but are interested in volunteering for swimming please stop in the office with your ID this week.  More detailed information about swimming will be coming home with your child shortly.

If you would like to volunteer and have a valid police clearance, please sign up using the following link Volunteer Sign Up as we need parents to join us to supervise on the bus and in the change rooms. Thank you!

Also if your child has never been to a pool to swim before, it would be a good opportunity to take your child prior to going as a class. They can get used to what the pool area looks like, how the water feels, how we get dressed and undressed after swimming, etc.

Upcoming dates:

Tuesday February 14 Valentines Day

Valentine's Day

As part of our year-long focus on friendship and caring for others, the children are invited to bring a valentine for each person in their class on Tuesday February 14th. Please have your child print their name only on each valentine if they wish to participate. Please leave the "To" space blank, as it is easier for your child to hand out the Valentines to their friends. We ask that you do not send any treats with the valentines. Thank you for your cooperation. Feel free to wear pink, white, purple and red to celebrate the day.
