Welcome to Our Scholastic Book Fair!

Tuesday March 7 to Friday March 10

 

What?  

Two ways to purchase items:  

Family purchases during parent conferences


On-line for parents or other family members.  No shipping charges, items will be delivered to the school and will be sent home with your child in sealed non see through packaging the week following the book fair. Please note that most items other than books such as pencils/erasers/posters/gadgets will not be available for on-line purchase.  For those wishing to surprise their child with purchases or gift them at a later date, please e-mail our school librarian at blcarde@cbe.ab.ca and she will arrange for you to pick up your order in the office.

Families: Thu. 4:15 PM to 7:45 PM and Friday: 8:15 AM to 12:45 PM during conferences. 

On-line purchases:  starting Friday Mar. 3rd until mid night Friday March 10th at the link above.  

Why?  

Scholastic Book Fairs promote literacy and support our Learning Commons by rewarding us with a percentage of all sales in books for the Learning Commons.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. We will be writing about what the animal does in winter and art.  We had centers.  As a reminder, please send your home reading to and from school in the coloured folders. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Ask your child what they were working on.  AM Kindergarten had music and PM kindergarten had gym.  Lion King Play  - as a school we will be presenting the Lion King in May.  Kindergarten will be involved in the show as members of the "Pride Land".  Please watch your email for show dates and ticket information.  As part of the production we  are asking that every child bring in a ball cap that fits their child's head well, to u...

Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles. We had centers and snack today.
