Thursday May 25

 Today we read, "Rhyming Dust Bunnies" and did a guided drawing with sharpies of the dust bunny. We painted it with water colour and then chose a word and had to rhyme 3 words . We wrote all the words beside the dust bunny.

We played a rhyming game where we had to pick out the rhyming word and write it on our whiteboard. 

We practiced adding using 2 dice. We rolled the dice, recorded the numbers and then added the 2 numbers together.  We worked on making sure the numbers are going the right direction. PM Kindergarten continued with measurement and we used non standard units to measure items around the class. We recorded the measurement number on the whiteboards. 

PM Kindies have music, some of our AM Kindies had the chance to go play a game in the gym with Mrs. B, the substitute teacher.

Today we had writing Wednesday. We wrote about our favourite animal and why. We copied from the board, "I like ______. It can_______. We are working on trying sound out beginning sounds (some learners are working on stretching out the word and using beginning, middle and end sounds).We continue to focus on drawing neatly, adding details, colouring in the lines and copying print from the board.  AM Kindergarten had music with Mrs. Coulson. PM Kindergarten had gym. We looked at our Animals in Winter Inquiry and wrote about what bats(AM) and frogs (PM) do in winter. We will be creating a card for each animal we learn about. Wednesday April 12

Today we had writing Wednesday. We read, "Helpers in my Community" and talked about who are the helpers we see in our community. We discussed what we would like to be when we grow up. Our learners drew a picture in their journal and wrote, "I am a ___". Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up. We did a rhyming activity with whiteboards. Our learners had to pick what words rhymed and print the word on their whiteboards.  We did math groups. Our learners broke into our math groups and worked on number activities. Monday November 28

Today was a great day at school.  We learned about the letter N. We read " The Nicest Newt" and had to find all the words that began with N. We learned the jolly phonics song for N and practiced the actions for all the letters we have been learning. (S, A, T, I, P, N) We practiced printing the letter N in our printing journals. The AM classes had gym and music.  Please ask your child what they did. PM class went to gym and did stations to practice skills such as catching, throwing, kicking and target practice.  We are very lucky to have some new centers to play with!  Thank you to the casino funds for allowing us to purchase the new toys.  The kinders loved playing the new cooperative game "Hoot Owl Hoot" and playing with the magnatiles. We had centers and snack today.
