Tuesday June 13
Today was an exciting day at school as we had special guests! Meet the zebra isopods! A big thank you to Claire's family for lending them to us for the day. We had so much fun watching the isopods and learning about them.
We read, "A Pill Bug's Life" and "Next Time you See a Pill Bug" to learn some interesting facts about the isopods. After reading about them, we got to hold them and use magnifying glasses to get a closer look.
We sketched the isopdos in our visual journal.
We then read, "The Roly-Poly Princess" which taught us about the special job the isopods have in nature. Ask your child what their job is and why it is so important.
Other question to ask your child:
What bigger group of animal do they belong to? Why aren't they insects?
What do they eat?
What did it feel like when you held one?
We worked on a math problem today. " There are 10 bugs. Some are ladybugs and some are bees. How many of each are there? How many ways can you show your answer. Ask your child to share how they came up with their answers.
PM Kindergarten had music.
This Friday is our field trip to Butterfield Acres. Thank you to everyone that has completed their forms. Please send in the field trip form ASAP if you have not already done so. We also would like to say a huge thank you for all the parents volunteering to come with us. We appreciate it greatly!
For Friday, your child will need to bring a snack in their pocket and a water bottle (labelled with their name) only. All student backpacks will stay at school Friday morning. If your child has an medication (inhaler or epipen) that is needed for the trip, please label it in a bag and send if with your child on Friday. We will have the teachers carry it in their backpack.
